Withdrawn standard

AS/NZS 4801 has been withdrawn and is no longer recognised by JAS-ANZ accredited bodies for new certifications. The path forward is ISO 45001. We help organisations transition cleanly without losing the investment in the existing system.

FIG. 01-Standard

On the standard

AS/NZS 4801 was the Australian/New Zealand standard for occupational health and safety management systems, but it has been withdrawn and is no longer recognised by JAS-ANZ accredited bodies for new certifications. If your organisation is still working to 4801 - or holds a legacy certificate - we’ll help with a clean transition to ISO 45001 that preserves the work already done.

FIG. 02-Process

A four-stage process, run by senior assessors.

  1. 01

    Transition gap review

Identify which parts of the existing 4801 system meet 45001 as-is, and which need updating.

  2. 02

    Documentation uplift

Refresh manual, procedures and risk methodology to match 45001 structure and intent.

  3. 03

    Transition audit

A combined audit that verifies the gap closures and issues a 45001 certificate.

  4. 04

    Forward surveillance

Standard 45001 annual surveillance from there - no parallel system to maintain.

FIG. 03 - Audience

Who it’s for.

Organisations with existing AS/NZS 4801 systems, or those whose contractor agreements still reference 4801 and need updating.

FIG. 04 - Outcomes

  • 01Clean transition that preserves existing system investment
  • 02Updated documentation aligned to ISO 45001
  • 03Combined transition + surveillance audits to minimise disruption
  • 04Clarity on which 4801 elements map to 45001 and which need uplift
